Hi, I’m Alisa Matheson.
Using a laid-back, comfortable style and natural light, I capture moments of shared joy between friends and family.
Being a entrepreneur has given me many chances to hone my skills in bringing a good idea to fruition.
It all comes down to asking the right questions…
And sharing the answers with the right people.
Working with visionaries from Twin Cities nonprofits, organizations and Minnesota governmental entities, I help think systematically on how processes and procedures can be improved, specifically around adoption + foster care.
In 2010, I launched Beloved Pieces Photography to capture moments of shared joy, and launched a separate foster care adoption blog to educate and inform about topics within the world of adoption and foster care.
In 2019, the love of photography and foster care adoption merged under the one umbrella of Attempting Agape.
Agape is a word we don’t use often, but it “embraces a universal, unconditional love that… goes beyond just the emotions, to the extent of seeking the best for others.”
My mission for Attempting Agape is to capture moments of joy through photography and to team with all those impacted by adoption and foster care, to love beyond the emotion and search for the best for those I connect with.
Life is complicated and messy, but along the way we can embrace the joy and complexity.
